These first graders worked hard during literacy rotations to write stories, read poems and read to their partners. We enjoy literacy in so many ways each day in our classroom.

We earned a record number of Pax-It Notes today! We have been promoting peace, productivity and happiness in our room lately. We are so proud!

Successes
We find moments of success to celebrate every day in our classroom! Gabby and Mario have been working hard at word work and xtra math and were excited to celebrate their success this week!
Gabby worked on writing red words and "r" blend words during her literacy rotation.

Poetry Cafe
Wow! Our very first Poetry Cafe of the year was such a success! Thanks to everyone who joined us and brought a poem to share with the class. As the year goes on, and we get more comfortable with our speaking and listening skills, I'm sure our reading voices will get louder and we'll be able to hear these wonderful poems more easily! Poetry Cafe is every Friday at 1:45. Please join us when you can.
The running program at PPS, Ready, Set, Run begins Wednesday, April 2. I know there are many first graders signed up who are so excited for it to start.
We are having a Name that Smoothie competition! Check out the details, below:

We are very excited for our first Poetry Cafe of the year this Friday afternoon. We have selected our poems and practiced together during our reading groups. Please continue to practice with your child at home. We'd love to have you join us Friday afternoon if you can!
Some quick updates:
-we are collecting canned/bottled juice for the Colchester Community Food Shelf this month. We'd love for everyone to contribute, the box is outside the front office.
-our WOW word is "unite"
-we are working on "l" blends (sl, cl, bl, fl, gl, pl) in SWR and the red word, some.
-we are continuing to count coins in math; practice as much at home as you can!
