The Day the Crayons Quit

We are learning about voice and perspective in our writing and reading and have been having discussions about who is the person/animal/thing doing the talking in stories that we read.  We've also been discussing how that impacts what is being said.  To show the first graders an example of perspective today, we read, The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt.  The students loved this story and could relate personally to it as they agreed, they have some crayons they use more than others!

We are continuing our study of Magic-e in SWR by watching a few fun videos about the strength and power of Magic-e.  You can check them out below!
