What a Week

Wow! We have had one of the best week's EVER so far this year! Our behavior has been outstanding, we've been kind and caring towards one another and we even earned THREE whole-class Pax-It notes in one day.  We also filled our warm-fuzzy bear, TWICE!  We have been working so hard to be safe, be respectful, be ready to learn.  We are role models in our school and we are so proud when people outside of our room notice.  Yesterday, a second grade teacher stopped her class to look at our class' line because we were all doing just what was expected.

To celebrate filling our warm-fuzzy bear the first time, we watched Charlotte's Web the movie.  We have done such a fabulous job comparing and contrasting not just two texts, but three.  We have been noticing the similarities and differences between all three.  Today, we even wrote about which text was our favorite and why.  We are such impressive writers and thinkers.

To celebrate another 5 whole-class Pax-It notes (we're up to 15 now!), Granny got totally whacky.  Instead of Poetry Cafe and Writing this afternoon, she said we had to conduct a whacky science experiment about wind.  The first graders know how much I dislike science experiments (;)), so they couldn't BELIEVE that Granny would suggest such a thing.  Granny also stipulated that the first graders could choose their own groups- my WORST NIGHTMARE!  It was  shocking to all of us.
